This site is helpful. You are allowed to take your phone on the flight with you, however they request that the it be turned off during the flight. The flight mode on phones just stops the phone from searching for a signal. Make sure you read all of the regulations regarding what items you can and can't take on the flight with you to avoid having restricted items taken away from you, and to save you time. Good luck!!

You can take your phone with you on the plane. If you put it in flight mode it will not be able to make or receive calls. It will stay on to look at your phone book and other info, but not make any calls. Your not allowed to make calls in flight or have phone in active mode. You can however make calls while waiting on the tarmac and while taxiing.
